For once, it seems Charlie Sheen actually is ‘winning’; as he managed to prompt more tweets than his replacement on ‘Two and a Half Men’, Ashton Kutcher.
According to Reuters.com, Charlie Sheen’s most recent show, ‘Comedy Roast’, garnered more attention on Twitter than the season premiere of ‘Two and a Half Men’, starring Ashton Kutcher.
Sheen managed to draw in over twice as many tweets as Kutcher; being subject of 400,000 tweets to Kutcher’s 150,000.
Furthermore, after research was undertaken on the social media content of other networking sites, it was discovered that Comedy Roast was commented on 148,000 times – compared to 92,000 times for Kutcher’s show.
Writer and branding expert Michael Waltzer told Brandchannel.com that: “This speaks worlds about how important tweets are becoming in the entertainment industry. The importance of social media tracking, including tweets and shares, seems almost as important, if not…more important, than television viewer ratings.
“Charlie Sheen himself set the record for the most Twitter followers in 24 hours,” he added.
Despite Sheen gaining a larger audience on Twitter, Kutcher won in the ratings stakes, reports confirmed. 28 million viewers tuned into ‘Two and a Half Men’, whilst only 6.4 million turned over to watch Sheen be ridiculed.
