Expert predicts growth for Pinterest

A marketing expert has predicted further growth for Pinterest, which is already one of the fastest-growing social sites in the world.

Andrew Lipsman, vice president of marketing and industry analysis at comScore, told financialexpress.com that the social network is due a huge surge in popularity – but added that the delay of this might fall in favour of the marketers, who are still figuring how best to utilise the platform for social media marketing.

Outlining his view of the popular pinboard-based website, Mr Lipsman said: “Pinterest is creating sort of a meritocracy of what’s visually appealing.”

The analysis expert went on to say: ”Brands are scrambling and trying to figure it out. They know it’s going to be big, but they don’t necessarily know the best way to use it.”

The author of the article that cited Mr Lipsman, Tanzina Vega, added that if a picture is worth a thousand words, then one picture post on Pinterest is worth seven tweets.

A similar view is also held by Augustana’s assistant business professor, Jaciel Keltgen.

Talking about the form from a marketing perspective, Ms Keltgen told ksfy.com that the site is perfect for advertisers, saying: ”I see it as a very interesting and new way to be interactive with potential and current clients. And a way to get all of your products out there.”
