Thought of the day…

Google might have some awesome search engine rankings to support their delve into car insurance comparison, but the industry’s top dogs shouldn’t be worried just yet.

The new service is reportedly visible for over 500,000 relevant keywords, despite only launching this week, but I doubt they will take too much business from the likes of ‘Compare The Market’ and ‘GoCompare’, in the short-term at least.

What these two companies have in their favour is that they have been building their reputations with the respective help of meerkats and an infamous opera singer for a number of years.

These advertising campaigns are the perfect example of fantastic content. They’re memorable, shareable and so non self-promotional that it almost feels wrong to describe them as adverts at all.

The campaigns have served to imprint ‘Go Compare’ and ‘Compare The Market’ permanently into our brains and should prevent Google from stealing too much of their business. After all, it now takes more than great SEO to succeed in digital marketing.
